Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng made an inspection tour of Jinshan District and listened to a report by Fengjing Town government on drafting its 12th Five-Year Plan on August 19.
Fengjing Industrial Park has a high concentration of chemical enterprises and is a key contributor of GDP to Jinshan District.
At a meeting with local officials, Han said Jinshan District had made good progress in drawing up its 12th Five-Year Plan.
The mayor emphasized the development of Jinshan's chemical industry as strategically important for Shanghai's long-term economic growth.
In the face of global competition and market changes, local chemical enterprises need to upgrade technology, concentrate on innovation, offer incentives to attract investment and talented people, and seek sustainable development, the mayor urged.
